We extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Edward Hagedorn, a remarkable leader who dedicated his life to the betterment of Palawan. Born in Parañaque in 1946, Hagedorn's journey led him to become the Mayor of Puerto Princesa City in 1992. During his tenure, he not only transformed the city into a renowned eco-tourism destination but also became a global model for environmental protection. His leadership was instrumental in Puerto Princesa gaining the title of the "cleanest and greenest" component city. Beyond his role as mayor, Hagedorn served as an Assemblyman of the Southern Philippines Council for Peace and Development, working towards the establishment of an autonomous region for Muslims in Mindanao, including Palawan. Simultaneously, he represented the League of Cities of the Philippines for Region IV and was a member of the National Executive Board of Boy Scouts of the Philippines. His legacy of sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Palawan will continue to inspire generations to come.
