Lucas Purugganan Bersamin took his oath as President

Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas Purugganan Bersamin took his oath as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s new executive secretary earlier today, September 27, 2022.

This development came 10 days after Atty. Vic Rodriguez vacated the post, citing the need to be with his family.

The 72-year-old native of Bangued, Abra served as chief justice from 2018 to 2019. Prior to his appointment as executive secretary, Bersamin served as chairman of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). An alumnus of the University of the East (UE) College of Law, he placed 9th in the 1973 Bar examinations.

The new executive secretary joined his first Cabinet meeting in Malacañang following his oathtaking, Palace sources said.
